Adam J. Dewey

Photojournalist & Freelance Photographer

Bio:

I am a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Metro-Detroit, often covering professional & collegiate sports, politics, social movements, environmental issues, and cultural & community events.

I am an alumus of the University of Michigan where I studied primatology & environmental studies. I previously worked as a zoologist and environmental educator for ten years. During this period, I worked in Costa Rica, the Peruvian Amazon, Belize, and Guyana performing field research while participating in various wildlife conservation and education initiatives. After discovering photography as a way to document the hard work communities were doing to preserve their local ecology, this skillset eventually led me to photojournalism in 2020 during the pandemic, George Floyd protests, and the 2020 presidential election.

I have since worked with Anadolu Agency and NurPhoto Agency for political, protest, and event photo coverage, and with El Central Hispanic News to provide local photo coverage of cultural events and professional & collegiate sports that include the NFL, MLB, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, Indy Car, USL Soccer, professional boxing, and more.
